What subject can be worthy of a brush of an artist? For a good artist it can be any subject as long as the artist succeeds in expressing it in an original form, which conveys his attitude towards the subject of his study. Marcin Kowalik is fascinated with the richness of the surrounding world. He paints still lives, landscapes, portraits, nudes and interiors. He paints the world created by nature and the industrial world created by technology; spectacles of light and darkness. Kowalik can perceive and then paint not only the outer shapes of the observed reality. In his work he attempts to penetrate the structure of the elements that constitute the reality, and the relationships between these elements. He, thus, creates new realities which arrest our attention, and intrigue with the conveyed truth about the world, with clear and dynamic construction and with the adequacy of the use of colour. Marcin Kowalik is still a very young artist at the beginning of his artistic creativity. I am convinced that his talent, together with his great industriousness, will result in a continuous development of his artistic consciousness. Adam Wsiołkowski .
